Project
The CERN Science Gateway is a public-facing cultural and educational center designed to connect society with cutting-edge scientific research. Developed for CERN and completed in 2023, the project translates complex scientific knowledge into accessible, engaging experiences.
Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the 7,000 m² facility combines exhibitions, hands-on experiments, education spaces, and large-scale events. It encourages active learning, critical thinking, and curiosity through direct interaction with science and technology.
Art is fully integrated into the visitor journey, creating a dialogue between scientific discovery and creative expression. Architecturally inspired by the Large Hadron Collider, the building embodies innovation, sustainability, and openness, with bridges, elevated galleries, and landscaped areas linking the complex to its surroundings.
The CERN Science Gateway is conceived as an inspiring place where science, culture, and the public meet, aimed at engaging and motivating future generations of scientists.
