Project
The SNF Agora Institute Building at Johns Hopkins University is conceived as a civic and academic forum dedicated to strengthening democratic dialogue and civic engagement on a global scale.

Inspired by the ancient Athenian agora, the building is designed as an open, transparent place that encourages discussion, exchange, and public participation. Located at the edge of the campus, it acts as a bridge between the university and the surrounding community, reinforcing accessibility and inclusion.

Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the project features flexible spaces for research, teaching, meetings, and public events. The architecture lifts the building from the ground to preserve an open public realm at street level, transforming the site into a contemporary civic square.
With a strong emphasis on sustainability and openness, the SNF Agora Institute aims to lead by example, creating an environment where academic research and public life intersect in a shared space for dialogue.
