Project
La Grande Passerelle is a cultural complex located in Saint-Malo, France. Completed in 2014, the project brings together the city’s media library and an art-house cinema on a central site along the historic axis linking the city center to the sea, adjacent to the railway station.

The building accommodates a media library, three art-house cinema screens, a lobby, exhibition and conference spaces, a digital area, and a literary café. It also defines a public esplanade and an outdoor amphitheatre.

Designed by architecturestudio (lead architect) with a multidisciplinary team, the project covers a total surface area of 6,500 m². The two programmatic volumes are architecturally distinct yet interconnected.

The building includes vegetated roofs, a photovoltaic-covered aerial link between the two volumes, and a geothermal heating system.
