Paris Courthouse

17.093

Project
The Paris Law Courts are located near Porte de Clichy in Paris and were developed between 2010 and 2017. The project consolidates courtrooms and judicial offices into a single building, while the historic courts on the Île de la Cité continue to host the Cour des Assises, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.

Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the building stands on an L-shaped site between the Paris ring road and Martin Luther King Park. It rises to a height of 160 meters and has a total floor area of approximately 110,000 m². The structure consists of a pedestal and a stepped tower formed by three stacked volumes with fully glazed façades.

The building contains 90 courtrooms, public reception areas, offices, and internal circulation spaces organized around a large central atrium. It also includes planted terraces at different levels. The project received HQE Exceptionnel environmental certification in 2021 and was commissioned by the Établissement Public du Palais de Justice de Paris in partnership with Bouygues Bâtiment.
