Abattoirs d’Anderlecht

20.005

Project

With over 5,800 solar panels, the SolarMarket’s roof promises to generate 1,653 MWh of electricity, equivalent to the consumption of more than 700 households.

This Belgian heritage-listed monument originally had a zinc roof, which was replaced with roofing material in the 1980s. It’s thanks to Zinclike (a BIPV solution) that we’ve managed to restore the original zinc aesthetic of the roof while incorporating the modern photovoltaic installation.

The Abattoirs installation came to fruition through the principles of third-party investment and crowdfunding. It aligns with the goal of developing decentralized energy outside the grid, with lower costs and green energy that can contribute to Belgium’s climate objectives.
